New BISD Board Members and Slate of Officers
On Tuesday, June 21, the Brazosport Independent School Board of Trustees welcomed two new members: Troy Brimage, representing District 4 and Michael Speir, representing District 5, at the beginning of the scheduled board meeting.
Troy Brimage, a Freeport native, is a 1989 graduate of Brazosport High School and the owner of SIG Insurance Services and Braztex Development, LLC. Brimage also serves as the vice president of the BISD Education Foundation. Troy and his wife Sabrina Arrington Brimage have 14-year-old twins, Brendan and Breanna, who attend school in Freeport.
Michael Speir, a lifetime resident of the Brazosport area, is a 2006 Brazoswood High School graduate and Baylor alum. Speir is an improvement engineer with the Dow Chemical Company. Michael and his wife Megan, also a Brazoswood grad and a former BISD teacher, live in Richwood with their two young children.
Once the newly-elected trustees were in place, the Board chose their slate of officers for the 2016-2017 school year:
