Safety Town 2016

Safety Town 2016
This is the image for the news article titled Safety Town 2016 The Brazosport Rotary Club began this summer program in 1989 to help prevent childhood accidents by teaching children safety measures such as learning how to dial 911 in an emergency situation, riding bicycles safely, avoiding dangerous chemicals in the home, stranger danger, beach safety, fire safety, gun safety and so much more. Safetytown is a cool miniature town with sidewalks, buildings and traffic signs. But most importantly, it is also a well thought out and planned Safety Education Program taught in classrooms each summer by BISD educators. From the very beginning, Mrs. Barbara Franklin and Mrs. Lucy Pendon, from the Brazosport Rotary Club, have served as co-chairs, guiding this all-important program and volunteers, to bring Safetytown to thousands of children in the Brazosport area. Thank you Rotary, our local municipalities, industry and business partners, BISD educators and young volunteers for providing the Safetytown program each summer. You have truly made a difference in the lives of children across our community.
