Brazoswood Assistant Principal to take the Lead at Lighthouse Learning Center
Dr. A’Lesia (Lisa) Land will take the lead as principal for BISD’s Lighthouse Learning Center.
Dr. Land has served 19 years in education as a mentor, Special Education Teacher of the Year, Lead Counselor, Principal, Assistant and Associate Principal. She has also served as the administrator over testing, Special Education, ESL and the counseling office.
Land started with Brazosport ISD as an assistant principal for the Brazoswood 9th Grade Center. Before coming to BISD, she worked at the Houston Independent School District for Jack Yates Senior High School as the 9th Grade Assistant Principal. Additionally she worked at Johnston Middle School as the Principal and oversaw the Special Education, English Language Arts/Reading and the English as a Second Language departments. While at Johnston, Dr. Land created and ran a PLATO Lab for overage eighth grade students. She also created master schedules for two middle schools in Fort Bend ISD.
Dr. Land received her EdD from Lamar University where she concentrated on Educational Leadership in Multiculturalism and Diversity. She received her Master of Education in Counseling from the University of Houston – Victoria and her Bachelor of Science in Social Science from the University of Houston-Downtown. She received her Superintendent and Principal certifications from the University of Houston – Victoria.
