Coach Mark Patton Hired as Brazoswood’s Basketball Coach
We are proud to announce the hiring of Mark Patton as the boys basketball coach for Brazoswood High School.
“We had many qualified candidates interested in the position. Coach Patton’s mission aligned with our mission of athletics: To build winning programs and use athletics as a tool to teach students life lessons. He has great experiences in leading young men,” said Athletic Director Coach Dean DeAtley.
Coach Patton brings 12 years of Head Coaching experience overall and 17 total years of coaching. He holds a career record of 213-141. Along with holding his Bachelors of Science Degree from Prairie View A&M, he holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Coach Patton stated, “I am very blessed, humbled, and thankful to be the next Head Boys Basketball Coach at Brazoswood. I look forward to getting to know everyone in the school and community, and rolling up my sleeves and getting to work to help make Brazoswood a constant competitor, taking pride in playing hard, being great teammates, and becoming leaders and role models in our community.”
The Houston native graduated from North Shore High School and was coached by the legendary Randy Weisinger.He continued his playing career at Prairie View A&M University, after transferring from Paris Junior College, as well as playing professionally one year in the Southwest Basketball League. Patton’s coaching journey has included stops as an assistant at North Shore High School, and head coaching stints at Baytown Sterling, Aldine Eisenhower and most recently Waco Midway High School.
Brazoswood Principal Rita Pintavalle stated, “Everywhere he has been, he has made a positive impact on students. We are excited to get him on board.”
Patton and his wife Djara have two children Brandon (14) and Braelyn (7).
