Wind Ensemble Receives Outstanding Recognition at State Festival
What does the Brazoswood Band do on a non-state marching contest year? They attend the UIL State Wind Ensemble Festival in Austin, Texas and give a stunning performance before a prestigious panel of band directors. Typically an occasional performer or a section that performs at a superior level will receive the UIL State Gold Medal. However this year, for the 3rd time in the history of the festival, every performer received a gold medal.
Some of the evaluator comments included:
James Keene, Director of Bands Emeritus at the University of Illinois wrote, “This is a truly wonderful ensemble-exemplary fundamentals, beautiful phrasing, shaping, and outstanding soloists.”
Brad Kent, Director of Music for UIL wrote, “Wow, what finesse and endurance. The subtle musical lines were played with artistry and confidence that was remarkable.”
J. Eric Wilson, Director of Bands at Baylor wrote, “This was a fabulous performance and one that everyone should be proud of.”
We are so proud of the hard work that everyone puts in to achieve this level of excellence!
The Wind Ensemble will have it’s final performance 7:00 pm Thursday night at the Brazosport College Clarion.
