Teachers are real life superheroes. They educate, innovate, encourage and support. Everyday they touch the lives of millions of children and their work and impact extends far beyond the boundaries of the classroom.
Take the time to celebrate these real life superheroes during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 2-6, 2016.
How you can help celebrate?
- Send a thank you card to a special teacher in your life or a teacher of a child in your life.
- Show your support for the tremendous work teachers do by volunteering in a classroom.
- Tell us/Share with us on Facebook and/or Twitter #BISDPride, #ThankATeacher about a teacher who had an impact on your life.
Facts About National Teacher Appreciation Day
Congress declared March 7, 1980, as National Teacher Day. The National Education Association continued to observe Teacher Day on the first Tuesday in March until 1985 when the National PTA established Teacher Appreciation Week as the first full week of May. The NEA Representative Assembly then voted to make the Tuesday of that week National Teacher Day. National Teacher Day is an “unofficial” National holiday.
