LJIS participated in the 2015-2016 Houston/Harris County Do The Write Thing Challenge. This challenge, issued through middle schools, offers both an academic and anti-violence program. Students discussed how violence affects lives, causes of violence, and what they can do about violence. This challenge provides students with the relational tools necessary to combat violence in their lives.
This year, student writers submitted almost 14,000 writings from 97 area schools. The students have written with confidence that they can make a difference; that they will show the way by example and do the right thing.
Lake Jackson Intermediate's two finalists are from Ms. D. Peter’s 8th grade Language Arts class, Katherine Fielder and Matthew Kucera.
Katherine and Matthew will be acknowledged at a special Do The Write Thing Ceremony of Recognition to honor School Ambassadors, their parents, and teachers. Please mark your calendar for the recognition event to be held in NRG Center on May 22, 2016 at 2:00 PM.
