BISD Holds Name That Book Challenge
A total of ten campuses from across BISD joined together this past Saturday in the Second Annual Name That Book contest. This year Freeport Intermediate School hosted over 160 excited student participants.
For the past 6 months students have been reading from a list of 20 books selected to be on the 2015-2016 Name That Book List. Campus teams were chosen and preparation began with students practicing before, during and after school. The contest consisted of 3 rounds of questions related to quotes, characters, setting or keyword clues from the literature list.
“The BISD Name that Book contest list expands our libraries with current, award winning books of various genres that we feel will be of great interest to our students,” said Michele Griffith, Lead Media Specialist. “It is the hope of the BISD librarians that the Name that Book contest will inspire reading and strengthen comprehension.”
Plans for next year’s Brazosport ISD Great Texas Mosquito List Competition are already underway with books selected and sponsorships on board.
Thank you goes to Michele Griffith for her tireless efforts to organize this tremendous event, the BISD librarians, the teacher and parent sponsors for each grade level team, Lake Jackson Children’s Public Librarian and the many volunteers who helped make Saturday a huge success.
