LJI students participated in the “You be the Chemist” on March 17, 2016 at The Dow Academic Center in Lake Jackson. The LJI students did great taking into consideration the fact that the competition is well beyond these students age. This year, another factor observed was the nature of the questions. It was more difficult and trickier than last year. LJI student, Hans Aggarwal was 2nd runner up and Neha Krishnan was 3rd runner up. Neha Krishnan, last year’s champion, finished among the top five this year. The Lake Jackson Intermediate student said she was excited to compete in the state challenge at the University of Houston next month. “I’m excited,” Neha said. “I want to be a neuroscientist.”
In the overall competition Neha had the 2nd highest cumulative score just a couple of points lower than the actual champion. Hans had the 4th highest cumulative score. The cumulative scores are not taken into consideration for the final ranking. Only the score from the semifinal round is considered. Congratulations to Neha and Hans for their stellar performance in the “You be the Chemist” challenge.
