Students Set School Record at HLS & Rodeo Art Auction
This is the image for the news article titled Students Set School Record at HLS & Rodeo Art Auction On Sunday, March 13, 2016, the artwork of six Brazoswood High School students had their original pieces auctioned at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo (HLS&R), setting a new BISD school record for this competition. This year, the HLS&R chose 718 pieces to display at the show from the more than 300,000 student submitted works from schools across the greater Houston area, with only 62 original pieces being selected to be a part of the auction. Collectively, BISD’s students earned $162,000 for their auctioned pieces, beating the school’s previous record of $152,000, set in 2012.     The students earning these honors and awards, under direction of Ms. Emily Middleton, are: Maria Simpson - 'Getting a Little Rusty' - Class Champion -   auctioned for $75,000 (school record)   Lindsay Barksdale - 'Nosey' - auctioned for $24,000    Elison Bowles - 'In Rust We Trust' - auctioned for $19,000    Joanna Guerrero - 'Cowboy Etiquette' - auctioned for $12,000, also a Scholarship to the Western Art Academy    Katie Karjala - 'Southern Sun Days' - auctioned for $15,000    Camille Matzke - 'Southern Accessories' - auctioned for $17,000    Congratulations to these students and to Ms. Middleton!!
