SFA Robotics Teams Rocked at the First Lego League Competition!
SFA STEM Academy's Robotics Teams, Term-i-gators grades 3-4 team and NG-360 grades 5-6 team, competed at the First Lego League Competition on Saturday February 20th, 2016. The competition was held at Stafford High School in Stafford, Texas. The theme of the 2016 Competition was "Trash Trek". The teams had to perform missions with a trash recycling theme as well as complete a research project related to how we can improve or develop a new method of how a piece of trash is handled to help our environment. Opening Ceremonies with a parade of teams began at 8:00 am. The teams were ready and excited to begin. Each team was judged on how well their autonomous programmed robot completed missions and trash research project.
SFA's teams had FABULOUS Performances! Term-i-gators finished in the 2nd tier of the competition, coming home proudly with a trophy and ribbon. NG-360 placed 3rd out of 65 teams in the 1st tier also bringing home a trophy and ribbon. Coaches Lenise Garratt, Chris Gibson, Cynthia Johansen, Sharina Mears, Amanda Duarte, and Jonathan Keel. For our first year to have Robotics Teams we did OUTSTANDING! Thank you Dow and Dow Mentors for sponsoring and guiding our teams to victory! Also a big thanks to our wonderful parents and community members for helping with our projects.
