In partnership with the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), Brazosport Independent School District is proud to announce that BASF and Dow Chemical have both been awarded state recognition for making a significant difference in the lives of our students and staff through generous contributions of time, talent, resources and funding.
“We are grateful for the generosity of both BASF Freeport and Dow Texas Operations, and for their continued commitment to help make a difference for our students and our community,” said Superintendent Danny Massey.
Through opportunities such as the Dow Gives Education Grants, You Be the Chemist, the Dow Smithsonian Teacher Scholar Program, along with Dow’s annual scholarship programs, our teachers and students are afforded the tools, resources and new learning experiences to grow and succeed in this ever-changing, technology driven world. From providing unlimited expertise and support for our robotics and rockets programs, along with mentoring and tutoring students in math, science and reading, to sponsoring elementary transition picnics, scoreboards and school supply drives, Dow Chemical has been our partner and teammate for more than 70 years.
BASF Corporation in Freeport supports BISD through grants, donations and partnerships, along with an unbelievable amount of employee volunteer hours. BASF’s "employee teams" donate more than 500 hours volunteering as tutors, educators, coaches and mentors, annually. From bringing the Conoco Phillips Trailblazer Program to our middle schools for students to explore hands-on exhibits in energy, space, weather, biotechnology, and aerodynamics, to hosting Houston Children’s Museum Kids Labs in our elementary schools, BASF has not only been an amazing volunteer support system, but also a generous and dedicated ally.
“Our students and teachers directly benefit from companies such as these, that are willing to stand up for public schools, not just in words, but in actions. We applaud BASF and Dow for their participation in our schools and look forward to continuing our strong relationships in the years to come,” Massey stated.
Brazosport Independent School District is proud to call BASF, Freeport and the Dow Chemical Company, Texas Operations, not only our good neighbors, but truly, friends of our public schools.
