Ms.Gibson's kindergarten class is SFA's Tech Classroom of the month. Students in her class are always seen on their Chromebooks as soon as the 8 o'clock bell rings in the morning. It is routine for them now to get their headphones out and begin the day with ST Math. After attending a STEM conference Ms.Gibson discovered Seesaw. With Seesaw teachers set up classes for students to create their own digital portfolio. Students can then take a photo or drawing and add audio to their picture. Students also have the option in creating a short video to showcase their work. Ms.Gibson stated, "I am so excited to have learned about Seesaw! It was easy to setup and the kids were able to use it instantly. It also helps with speaking in complete sentences when they narrate their pictures."
Several of the kindergartners were interviewed and asked what was their favorite thing about Seesaw. Here is what they had to say:
"I like drawing and speaking about what we are learning. I want to write about dinosaurs and how they are extinct." ~ Austin
"I like it because I like to draw and I don't have paper at the house." ~ Khami
"You color and change colors whenever you want. You don't have to wait for it to dry if you are painting." ~ Mia
Great things are happening at SFA STEM Academy! Way to go Ms.Gibson's class!
