Campus Winners Advance to Regional Spelling Bee

The regional meet will be held at Lake Jackson Intermediate School on Friday, February 12, 2016. Lake Jackson Intermediate School has hosted this event for the past six years with the help of two BISD staff members, Therese Kahla and Cheryl Wood. The February Bee will be attended by two representatives that won their school-wide spelling bee. Sixteen campuses from across the county will compete. BISD will be represented by nine campuses including Bess Brannen Elementary, Clute Intermediate, Elisabet Ney Elementary, Freeport Intermediate School, Jane Long Elementary, Madge Griffith Elementary, Lanier Middle School and Rasco Middle School.   BISD students competing at the Regional event are:        Kevin Coke - Bess Brannen Elementary      Ella McNames - Bess Brannen Elementary      Ashlyn Mayhew - Elisabet Ney Elementary      Ariel Fruidenberg - Elisabet Ney Elementary      Viggo Arechiga - Jane Long Elementary      Kaelyn Brinker - Jane Long Elementary      Natalie Uribe - Madge Griffith Elementary      Ingrid Salvador - Madge Griffith Elementary      Sarah Gambrel - Rasco Middle School      Jacob Markham - Rasco Middle School      Daisy Aleman - Lanier Middle School      Abby Lashley - Lanier Middle School      N'Tire Jones - Clute Intermediate School      Ruben Jasso - Clute Intermediate School      Zioni Israel - Lake Jackson Intermediate School      Madison Habeck - Lake Jackson Intermediate School      Nayson Goins - Freeport Intermediate School      Reina Perez - Freeport Intermediate School      More names will be added as more campus winners are announced, so please check back!   The champion of the Regional Spelling Bee will go on to compete in the Scripps Houston Channel 8 Bee on April 2 at the University of Houston. The winner of that bee will then go to Washington DC in June to compete for the national championship.
