An excited group gathered in the Administration Board Room Wednesday morning to witness the swearing in of BISD’s new Chief of Police, Wade Nichols. Current members of the BISD Police Department, Investigator Ulysses Velez of the Sheriff’s Office, administrative staff and members of Chief Nichols family were present to witness the official start for the new leader.
Chief Nichols comes to BISD with extensive experience that began in 1995. He has been with the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office for the last 21 years where he worked his way up through the ranks within the department. For the past 10 years his efforts have specifically been focused in the area of Criminal Investigations.
His wife of 19 years, Lara Nichols, is the school nurse for Brazoswood’s 9th grade campus. They have two daughters who attend BISD schools. Additionally, Nichols coaches softball and serves on the Board of the Lake Jackson Girls Softball Association.
The Brazosport ISD Police Department was established in August of 2014 to help create and maintain a safe learning environment for all students and staff. We are grateful to have police officers who care about our students, our staff, our parents, our stakeholders, and our community.
