Brazosport Independent School District has once again received the highest achievable rating of the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST). This marks the fourteenth consecutive year that Brazosport ISD has received the top score in this accountability measure used by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
FIRST is used to determine the financial health of every school district in Texas based on 100 points within fifteen indicators. BISD scored 98 out of 100 points, receiving a near perfect score! Examples of these indicators include financial audit opinions, administrative cost ratios and long-term debt. The 2015-2016 ratings are based on annual financial reports provided to TEA from the 2014-2015 school year.
“This achievement shows that we have effectively and quite consistently made the most of taxpayer dollars while ensuring students have what they need to learn and thrive,” said BISD Superintendent Danny Massey.
