A packed room of 60 Brazosport ISD high school student gathered to receive orientation training from UTMB professionals as part of their year long Health Science Career and Technical Education (CTE) class. In the next few weeks these bright students will begin clinical rotations at UTMB where they will cycle through medical specialties like radiology, emergency rooms, oncology, labor and deliver, etc.
“Our goal is to not only provide every student within BISD an opportunity to explore their career choices, but to also find the passion that drives them to move forward, whether that is through attending college or earning certifications with the industry of their choice,” says Jennifer Edenfield, BISD Director of CTE.
The Health Science Industry is one of the fastest growing industries within Brazoria County, so to help promote this growth, BISD has implemented seven different certifications within our Health Science program ranging from Clinical Medical Assistant to Electronic Health Record Specialist.
Brazosport ISD is proud of our large offering of CTE courses and learning experiences that begins with exploration of career options, supports basic academic and life skills, and enables achievement of high academic standards, leadership, options for high skill, high wage employment preparation, and advanced and continuing education.
