Mason Howard was elected to the school board in May of 2011.

Mason P. Howard of precinct 7 explains why he chose to run for BISD board. "I was born here and grew up here. I wanted my children to experience the schools that I attended Stephen F. Austin Elementary, Freeport Intermediate and Brazosport High School (‘87). My parents grew up here and graduated from Brazosport High School in 1963. My grandmother graduated from Freeport High School in the 40's. My family is from here… I have a vested interest in BISD. The Brazosport area is a great place to live, work, and rear a family."

Mason Howard has lived in BISD for 42 years and 24 of those years he has been married to wife, Paulette. Mason and Paulette have two children: Michael Paul who is 23 and Robin Lindsey Viola who is 16.

Mason Howard is a contractor who has been in business for himself since 1999. His company's name is Mason Builder's, which specializes in remodeling and additions.

BISD is an even better "place to live, work, and rear a family" because of Mason P. Howard's service to our community.

District 6 - [MAP]

Scott Schwertner is a product of Brazosport ISD and graduate of Texas A&M. He was elected to the BISD Board of Trustees in May 2014. He is a Senior Sales Tax Manager for the consulting firm CTMI, LLC. He was previously elected as a Lake Jackson City Councilman (2010-2014). He and his wife, Kristen, are both active in the community as volunteers for a number of local charities/organizations. He has two daughters in BISD schools that he coaches in soccer, basketball, and volleyball.

Scott Schwertner said that he believes that “a strong BISD is vital to the success of our community and most importantly to the future of the children of our community."

District 1 - [MAP]

George R. Sullivan was appointed to the Brazosport ISD Board of Trustees in July 2013. He was elected to fill an unexpired one year term in May 2014 and reelected in May 2015.

Mr. Sullivan is a Project Manager for Dow Chemical. Sullivan moved to the Lake Jackson area in 2007 with his three children - twin daughters, Kenadi and McKenzi, and a son, Kade.
 
"I strongly believe that a good quality education is the most important thing a person can possess and is essential to being successful in life," he said. 

Sullivan explained that to help ensure that every child in BISD has the opportunity to gain a good quality education and are adequately prepared for their future endeavors, he hopes to work with the other members of the board, our teachers and the administration "to propel BISD to the level where we are setting the standard for educational excellence."

Jerry Adkins

Jerry Adkins was elected as a BISD Board member in May 2013 to fulfill an unexpired two year term and reelected in May 2015, serving Single-Member District 2.

Mr. Adkins has lived in the Brazosport community for 42 years with his wife, Barbara, and three children, who are all products of Brazosport ISD. Mr. Adkins worked as a project manager for Dow Chemical, retiring after 42 years of service.

“I believe our school district needs to develop responsible citizens by providing the best education from the best teachers,” Mr. Adkins stated regarding his educational beliefs and values. “As a Board member, a priority is to encourage, motivate and support BISD's effort to provide the best education possible for all students in BISD by working as a team with board members, administrators, teachers, staff, students, parents and community,” he added.

Patty Sayes was appointed to the BISD Board of Trustees in July 2014 and elected in May 2015.

Patty is the General Manager of the Brazos Mall. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing from Texas A&M University and has been involved with several community organizations including the Brazosport Chamber of Commerce, the Military Wives and Mom’s Association for Brazoria County and the Brazosport Center for Arts and Sciences.

Patty’s husband Kyle and their two sons are all BISD graduates. Thanks for your service and welcome to the BISD board!

Michael Speir

District 5 - [MAP]

Voters elected Michael Speir as a member to the BISD Board in May of 2016. Michael is a product of Brazosport ISD, born and raised in the Lake Jackson area. After graduating Brazoswood High School, he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Baylor University.

Michael Speir is a second generation product of BISD. Both of his parents’ worked most of their careers within the district and both eventually retired from BISD. Megan, his wife, taught third grade bilingual at Griffith Elementary before they had children. As a child of administrators, a graduate of BISD, the spouse of an educator, a member of the community in which he was born, and proud parent to future BISD students, Michael brings a unique holistic perspective to his service as a newly elected BISD Trustee.

“I believe that a solid educational foundation, combined with strong sense of community, is essential in equipping our children today to become leaders tomorrow. I am honored and look forward to serving all of Brazosport ISD as a member of the Board of Trustees.”
Michael and his wife Megan have two children, Sofia and Judah, and enjoy spending time with their children outdoors. He works for Dow Chemical, Salt Dome Operations, as an Improvement Engineer.
