This is the image for the news article titled BISD Meets Standard in TAPR State Accountability RatingBrazosport ISD earned a Met Standard accountability rating, according to the recently released 2015-2016 Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR).

The TAPR compiles a wide range of information on student performance in each Texas school and district. Performance measures include State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) results by grade, subject and student group; dropout and attendance rates; completion of advanced high school classes and graduation programs; and participation in college admissions tests.

Performance indicators are disaggregated by ethnicity, economic status, special education and Limited English Proficiency. The reports also provide information on school and district staffing, programs, student discipline and demographics. Much of the data is collected through the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS). Each year, school districts must submit student, staff, demographic and program participation data electronically in a standardized format.

The 2015-2016 TAPR excludes STAAR results for grade 7 due to the exclusion of student performance data for Lake Jackson Intermediate School by testing vendor Educational Testing Service (ETS). As a result of the exclusion, STAAR performance data for multiple areas of the district TAPR was reported incorrectly. The district received a letter from TEA Commissioner Mike Morath on January 3, 2017, in which he stated:

The purpose of this letter is to provide Brazosport ISD with the assurance that the omission of the grade 7 results was solely due to an error made by ETS. Brazosport ISD staff accurately followed the appropriate processes to submit the STAAR answer documents for Lake Jackson Intermediate School and did not learn of the ETS error until after the final consolidated accountability file had been provided to the Texas Education Agency by ETS.

This is the fourth year for TAPR, which replaced the previous Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS) report.

A public presentation of the results will be held at the January 17, 2017, BISD Board of Trustees meeting. The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m.
