Brazosport Independent School District Board of Trustees recently approved the district’s 2015-16 financial audit, which provides a detailed summary of revenues, expenditures, debt and economic statistics for a one-year period that ended August 31, 2016. The audit, also called the Annual Financial Report (AFR), offers trustees as well as taxpayers an in-depth analysis of the district’s financial statements. The AFR was audited and compiled by Kennemer, Masters and Lunsford, LLC, a firm of licensed certified public accountants.
According to auditors, the district received an unmodified opinion, which is the highest rating that can be attained.
Over the last year, revenues and assets outpaced expenses and liabilities by $61,479,120 (net position). Of this amount, $8,190,931 is the unrestricted balance. Expenditures last year increased by $10,705,883 to a total of $130,739,184.
“BISD always strives to be fiscally responsible and accountable to our stakeholders, while also providing quality staff and the resources needed to ensure every student is equipped for success,” said Superintendent Danny Massey.
