Amanda Martinez, a second grade teacher at Stephen F. Austin STEM Academy, is the focus of the Brazosport ISD Teacher Spotlight Award. This is Amanda’s eleventh year with BISD and her eighth year to teach. She chose education as a career because she wanted to teach students the skills they need to be confident, real-world problem solvers. Mrs. Gutierrez, the SFA Principal, refers to Amanda as a campus technology leader. Amanda recently presented at three technology oriented conferences. She is also the ambassador for the SEESAW App. to the teachers on her campus. SEESAW allows students to save their work in an online portfolio. Second grade students recently completed a STEM project, tested their results in a lab, and then made a video using the SEESAW App. to explain their projects and how they worked. Amanda Martinez is one of the many teachers in BISD who is setting the standard for educational excellence.
