Although Brazosport ISD schools will be closed for students on Monday, February 20, it will be open to teachers and other staff as they attend professional development sessions designed to help enhance their skills and expertise in the classroom.
BISD first year beginning teachers will have a class of their own! The overall effort for creating this new teacher network is to build leadership capacity and offer a vehicle for sharing best practices. This cohort of new teachers will have the opportunity to learn from a nationally known presenter, Mark McLeod as a part of the BISD New Teacher Academy Network.
Mark McLeod is known for his dynamic and motivating presentations that speak to the heart of an educator. Recognized as one of Mississippi’s top school administrators, Mark has shared his expertise at state and national conferences for schools and districts throughout the United States. He was twice selected as Teacher of the Year for Lumberton Public School District. This presentation will leave participants inspired, and will offer them a plethora of strategies for creating a positive school climate that leads to student success.
All Texas teachers and campus paraprofessionals are required to earn 14 hours of professional development each year.
