In an effort to share practical tips for others in his same or similar field, Digital Learning Coach Andres Chavez wrote an article on “Practical Ways to Build Capacity In Your Staff.” The article was published in the February 2017 issue of Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) quarterly magazine “TechEdge” that goes out to nearly 17,000 association members.
Mr. Chavez was inspired to write on how as a Digital Learning Coach he could help grow teachers when it comes to effective technology integration in their classroom. He explains how many of the methods and activities he does with the staff of Rasco Middle School are very practical, such as setting “SMART” goals (Specific, Measurable, Agreed upon, Realistic, Time-Based), and allowing teachers enough time to fully learn and implement one technology tool at a time, rather than overwhelming them with numerous tools and apps. He also discusses the value of working with the teacher on their schedule, not his. Most importantly to Mr. Chavez at the end of the day is “the relationship building with the teachers and their comfort in trying new things with their students.”
Thank you Mr. Chavez for not only effectively helping teachers integrate technology in the classroom, but also for sharing your successes so others can do the same. We are so proud to have another of our BISD employees recognized for their expertise in such a huge forum for learning!
