The awards were announced at the TSPRA Annual Star Awards Celebration, during the association’s 55th annual conference, held at the Galveston Island Convention Center. Each year the TSPRA organization recognizes school district communicators for outstanding work in both print and electronic media. The more than 2,000 entries received this year were divided into three divisions determined by the number of students the district, foundation or organization serves - under 10,000 students; 10,000 to 30,000 students; and over 30,000 students and were then reviewed by independent judges, not affiliated with TSPRA. Each entry is evaluated and scored on its own merit. Bronze, Silver and Gold Stars are awarded based on set criteria.

The BISD Communications & Public Relations Department members include:

Amber Casey – District Webmaster
Karla Christman – Public Relations Administrator
Ashley DeLaRosa – Administration Receptionist
Sharon Ritchie – Communications Administrative Assistant
Tami Sophia – District Communications Coordinator
