Carol Mallett, a non-traditional credit teacher at B*Success Academy, is the focus of the Brazosport ISD Teacher Spotlight Award. This is Carol’s 30th year to teach and her 16th year to teach in BISD. She felt called to be a teacher in her seventh grade English class, but did not believe that was a possibility for her until she became involved in and experienced success in her high school fine arts program. At this time in her life, there were two choir teachers who inspired her to continue her education so that she could answer her calling. According to the B*Success principal, Charles Hawkins, Mrs. Mallett’s strengths are building relationships with students and helping them to learn life lessons as they make real world connections to the curriculum. She goes above and beyond her regular duties to provide students an opportunity to participate in theater productions. Carol Mallett is one of the many teachers in BISD who is setting the standard for educational excellence.
