The $30,000 grant is intended to enhance Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs within the district, specifically within construction technology at Brazoswood High School.

The BISD CTE department will use funds obtained from this competitive grant to enrich the Brazoswood construction program, with the aim to foster innovation through the identification and promotion of proven programs, practices and strategies. Pathways such as construction technology prepare students for careers in high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand fields.

The grant focuses on accomplishing this mission through students earning industry-based certifications and the creation of a testing site and licensed instructor within the lab to ensure students have the opportunity to obtain additional industry-based certifications on campus. This school year students will be able to earn and obtain the National Center for Construction and Education Research (NCCER) Carpentry certification. This grant will help to enhance the equipment in the lab and provide additional training for BISD’s new construction instructor, Mr. Paul Plank.
