On Thursday, March 24, 2022, young ladies from Brazosport ISD attended the 2022 Women in Industry Conference hosted by the Community College Petrochemical Initiative (CCPI) at the Moody Gardens Hotel in Galveston, TX.
The CCPI event introduced young women to the careers and opportunities available in the petrochemical and industrial skills industries. Students were provided with the opportunity to hear from other women who work within the petrochemical and industrial trades industries. College representatives were there to answer questions concerning enrollment, financial aid and training-related issues. Several major companies were in attendance such as Freeport LNG, Dow, ExxonMobil and Chevron Phillips just to name a few.
CTE Director, Jessie Jennings added “The petrochemical field is constantly changing and evolving and with these expansions comes more and more opportunities not only for males but for our young women as well. We want our students to know that all truly does mean all, especially in terms of opportunities for females. There is a plethora of inspiring, high-paying positions available in the Gulf Coast region within the petrochemical realm and companies are searching for well trained women to hire and we at Brazosport ISD want our young women to be at the top of that list.”
