The first competition was the 2023 Culinary Institute LeNotre High School Chopped competition in Houston Texas. Two teams of students were given mystery ingredients such as Cornish hens, collard greens, potato chips, caul fat, and tomato paste, and they had to create dishes. The team consisting of Senior Wyatt Smith, Senior Lynn de Rivas, Senior Tyde Miller, and Junior Dominick Trostle won third place.

In another competition, Brazoswood student Christina Contreras competed in the regional NASA Hunch culinary competition at Milby High School. She prepared a roasted red pepper tomato soup recipe and was placed in the top 10, earning her the chance to compete again in Nationals at Space Center Houston on April 20. This competition requires competitors to create a recipe that fits within the strict nutritional guidelines for astronauts while they are in prespace quarantine.

Congratulations to all the students who participated in these competitions, and best wishes to Christina Contreras for the upcoming Nationals competition!
