World Language Acquisition is an essential part of developing young minds. Learning multiple languages allows students to increase knowledge to become skilled speakers, readers, and writers within their own language and community. They learn to connect with other cultures, strengthen decision making and problem solving, and can advance their careers. Brazosport ISD’s World Language (LOTE) department seeks to empower students by partnering with Mango Languages to encourage multilingualism and multiliteracy.

Ms. Tracye Thomas, Language Acquisition Coordinator for Curriculum and Instruction had the opportunity to discuss the significance of WLA and highlight the Discovering Languages courses offered in our district that allow students to explore multiple languages at Clute Intermediate, Freeport Intermediate, and Lake Jackson Intermediate.

Ms. Thomas’s conversational podcast is in conjunction with Mango Languages’ Adventures in Language and is designed to discuss challenges language leaders face as well as invigorate and inspire second language acquisition. BISD is proud of its teachers and students of the World Language Acquisition program and wish to celebrate and support this program’s initiatives and advantages.
