Brazosport Independent School District hosted the annual Name That Book Competition on April 4-5, 2024, showcasing the literary skills of elementary, middle, and intermediate students. Participants from across the district in kindergarten through 8th grade engaged in the competition, drawing from the esteemed Great Texas Mosquito List curated by BISD Librarians.
Divisions tailored to different age groups allowed students to demonstrate their knowledge, deciphering clues from the selected books with precision and enthusiasm. This year, the competition seamlessly blended virtual and in-person engagements. Virtual competitions for K-2 and 3-4 divisions were held on April 4, followed by lively "in-person" competitions for 5-6 and 7-8 divisions the next day, where parents were invited to witness the excitement firsthand.
“During the competition each team is given a clue from one of the books and they have to name the book that is being referred to," BISD Lead Librarian, Liz Fambrough shared. “We are proud of the hard work our students put into this event.”
BISD is excited to announce expansions for the upcoming year. The addition of a K-2 bilingual team and a high school competition will further enrich the event. These competitions will unite students through "in-person" engagements, emphasizing camaraderie and intellectual achievement.
