Brazosport ISD is excited to announce that Eric Luster will be taking the helm as Brazoswood High School’s Head Football Coach and Campus Athletic Coordinator.

“We believe Coach Luster is committed to building something special here and will give Brazoswood’s athletic programs great opportunities to continue to expand student growth through using athletics as life lessons and character development,” said Superintendent Danny Massey. “Coach Luster is a proven leader and successful 6A head coach. He has a gift for building quality relationships with players, while also holding them accountable to high standards.”

Coach Luster has 25 years of successful experience as a coach, most recently for North Forney High School, east of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Luster served as an assistant coach at North Forney until 2021, moving to head football coach and campus athletic director for the past three years and having a 9-3 record this past season.

“There is tremendous school pride, administrative and community support in Brazosport ISD and Brazoswood High School that help make this a very special place for me and my family to make our home for many years. The facilities are second to none and are great evidence of how much the community values a quality education and extracurricular programs for students. We can’t wait to get started,” Coach Luster stated.

Athletic Director Jay Zeller said, “With over 70 applicants, we had a lot of great candidates, but it all came down to his leadership skills and his successful 6A head coaching experience. Coach Luster rose to the top from a field of exceptional candidates.” AD Zeller, who has known Coach Luster for more than 10 years, continued by stating, “I have had the opportunity to see firsthand a winning culture that Eric can create through player and leadership development.”

Coach Luster, along with his wife Lisa, have seven children, two of whom are still in school. Luster and his family will be at Brazoswood Friday morning, March 22, to meet their new Buccaneer family.
