Brazosport ISD is excited to shine the spotlight on Shawn McCabe and Roberto Unterberger as this month’s March 2024 Spotlight Educators.
Spotlight Educators are teachers who go above and beyond for both students and their coworkers. They are knocking instruction out of the park to ensure a supportive and enriching learning environment for all.
Elementary Spotlight Educator: Shawn McCabe
Mr. McCabe teaches 3rd grade Math and Science. His campus and peers shared that Mr. McCabe embodies the very best qualities of a teacher and person. He does right by his students in giving the very best of himself and right by his peers in his willingness to support them in absolutely any way. Mr. McCabe never misses an opportunity to teach. If students are idle in the halls, walking to lunch or coming in from recess he is teaching Math. Mr. McCabe provides a safe and engaging place for students to learn and through his consistency provides a beacon of calm and experience for those around him. SFA has been blessed to have him.
Secondary Spotlight Educator: Roberto Unterberger
Mr. Unterberger teaches 5th & 6th grade bilingual Reading Language Arts & Social Studies. His campus and peers shared that he is meticulous in his planning and provides students with high quality instruction. He works with the campus's LPAC and is their Bilingual/ESL Department leader. Mr. Unterberger is always prepared and ready. His students and his team can depend on him, parents trust him and he communicates well with everyone. He always has a smile and a positive mindset. He’s an amazing team player, the first to volunteer when needed, and the first to offer a compliment or a shout-out. The world needs more Mr. Unterbergers!
McCabe and Unterberger epitomize the core values of Brazosport ISD - dedication, excellence, and a genuine passion for fostering student success. Their impact extends far beyond the classroom, shaping the educational landscape with their unwavering commitment to creating a nurturing and empowering learning environment for all.
