This is the image for the news article titled SFA Elementary Revamps Staffing to Ensure Quality Education and Fiscal ResponsibilityStephen F. Austin Elementary School (SFA) is taking proactive steps to align its staffing with fiscal requirements while maintaining its commitment to delivering high-quality education to its students.

Currently serving 251 students from pre-kindergarten through 6th grade, SFA faces a challenge in meeting budgetary guidelines set by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The school's per-student spending exceeds required levels, posing a risk of losing critical Federal Title Money allocated to Brazosport ISD campuses.

To address this issue, SFA will implement a strategic staffing redesign for the 2024-2025 academic year. This redesign aims to reduce spending by $250,000 while preserving educational excellence. Seven existing staff positions will transition to Teacher Apprenticeships, working under the supervision of certified teachers. This adjustment ensures efficient resource utilization without compromising student learning experiences.

"We are dedicated to maintaining SFA as a cornerstone of the Jones Creek community while adhering to fiscal responsibilities," said Superintendent Danny Massey. "This staffing redesign allows us to achieve both objectives effectively."
