The Brazosport Independent School District is seeking applications to fill the vacancy of Trustee District 3, following the passing of Mrs. Patty Sayes. An individual will be appointed by the Brazosport ISD Board Members to fill the vacant position until the next election on May 3, 2025.

Persons interested in being considered for appointment to the Board must meet eligibility requirements and complete an application form by July 25, 2024.  Applications can be submitted online through the link below or picked up from the Brazosport ISD Business Office located at 301 W. Brazoswood Dr., Clute, Texas 77531 Monday-Thursday during the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Board Member Eligibility Criteria:

• Candidates must reside within the boundaries of District 3.
• Be a United States citizen.
• Be 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election or on the date of appointment, as applicable.
• Have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
• Have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities [but see Ineligibility below].
• Have resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the territory from which the office is elected for six months immediately preceding the following date:
  • For an independent candidate, the date of the regular filing deadline for a candidate's application for a place on the ballot.
  • For a write-in candidate, the date of the election at which the candidate's name is written in.
  • For an appointee to an office, the date the appointment is made.
• Be registered to vote in the territory from which the office is elected on the date described above.

Following a review of the submitted applications, the BISD Board Members will schedule interviews for selected qualified candidates on August 5, 2024. The newly appointed Trustee will be sworn in at the August 19, 2024 regular board meeting.
