Volunteer at Our Schools

BISD Volunteers Share

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at our schools. Volunteers are recognized as an important part of student success. Whatever your skills, interests, or availability we’ve got an opportunity for you to impact the students and staff of Brazosport ISD. Below are three steps to get you started.

*BISD REQUIRES ALL VOLUNTEERS TO TAKE STEP ONE EVERY SCHOOL YEAR.

Steps to Join the BISD Volunteer Team:

Step 1:
Choose the option from the blue dropdown bar that best describes you. You can then follow the simple steps for your situation. Our online application "wizard" will walk you through the process step-by-step.

Note that a background check is required of all potential volunteers (exceptions are current BISD employees and BISD approved substitutes). Please allow 2 weeks for processing. If you have further questions or comments, please contact us at 979-730-7000 and ask for Sharon Ritchie or Vicky Becerra.

*Google Chrome is the only browser fully supported by TEAMS. While you can access TEAMS in other browsers, some features may not function as intended.

Step 3:

Contact the campus you wish to serve, (Campus Volunteer Contacts) to make sure your information is in their Volunteer Data Bank and to inquire about volunteer opportunities. Looking for a few suggestions? Check-out our Volunteer Opportunity Description document to read about some of our great volunteer opportunities in BISD. If you have questions or want to make suggestions, feel free to contact Sharon Ritchie, Brazosport ISD Volunteer Liaison at 979-730-7000.

**In order to ensure the safety of our students, local board policy dictates that BISD shall perform a criminal history record check on all employees as well as substitutes and volunteers. [See Texas Education Code 22.083(a)(b), Board policy DC (Legal), and GKG (Legal)].

Additionally, Brazosport ISD reserves the right to terminate volunteer status in the event that a volunteer violates the Educator’s Code of Ethics, Board Policy DH (Exhibit)

In addition, Education Code 22.053 states, “A volunteer who is serving as a direct service volunteer in the district is immune from civil liability, to the same extent as professional employee of a school district under Section 22.051.”

The information obtained by the district concerning criminal background history remains confidential and is kept in a separate file in the Human Resources Office.
