National Educators Rising Held July 2, 2024.

This summer, the Brazoswood Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) students embarked on an exciting trip to Washington DC for the National Educators Rising Competition. A total of nine BISD students competed with their children's books and bulletin board.

Weeks of hard work went into qualifying for the National event. A total of 19 dedicated students showcased their talents at the Teach Tomorrow Summit State competition in early April 2024. The students competed in different categories, including writing children's books in English and Spanish, creating bulletin boards, developing teacher materials, excelling in job interviews, producing the chapter yearbook, demonstrating lesson planning and delivery, solving ethical dilemmas, and leading breakout sessions. An impressive ten students earned the opportunity to advance to NATIONALS in Washington DC.

Congratulations to all of the 3,300 students who competed at the Educators Rising competition, and especially to our BISD students who represented our district so well.

  • James Mann and Kayleigh Johnson earned 3rd place for their book "Ellie the Elephants Allergic Adventure."
  • Andrea Elizondo earned 5th place with her Book "Lola."
  • Olivia Bonnot placed 9th with her Book "Violet."
  • Rosie Rios and Zoey Hamilton earned 10th with their book "Prismia"

Along with competing, we had the opportunity to attend so many historical sights like the Ford Theatre, the US Capitol, the Holocaust Museum, the DC Zoo, the Smithsonian Museums and much more.

Brazoswood TAFE Advisors Mary Jimenez and Cameron Peters expressed their gratitude to the school and district for providing their students the opportunity to gain this incredible life experience and see many wonderful sights while in DC. “We are so proud of the hard work our students put Into their projects and their every day school work. Thank you to all the kids and their families for allowing us to experience this with their children. What an amazing trip and opportunity.”
