Health Services

Brazosport Independent School District recognizes that good health is a basic prerequisite for grasping educational opportunities and seeks to provide this for its students. The School Health Services Program aims to be an integral part of the educational process by encouraging, promoting, and providing health services conducive to healthful living habits and in meeting students needs resulting from disease, accident, congenital defects or psychological maladjustments.

Mission:

The Health Services program in Brazosport Independent School District includes prevention, intervention, promotion, and health teaching. Education is enhanced through seeking optimal levels of wellness and by the modification or removal of health-related problems that may hinder learning. Health counseling, referral, health education, and health promotion facilitate the educational process and the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle and foster the concept of responsible decision making regarding self-care.

Goals:

  1. Health services provided by the school shall be planned as an integral part of a community effort to protect and maintain the health of each child.
  2. The school staff shall cooperate with other concerned agencies in determining the extent and nature of the services for which the school shall be responsible.
  3. The Board of Trustees, on the recommendation of the Superintendent and in cooperation with local physicians, shall adopt and enforce regulations concerning the exclusion from school and the readmission of pupils exposed to communicable disease.
  4. Policies concerning emergency care, health surveys, immunizations and the like shall be developed in a similar manner.
