Volunteer at Our Schools

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at our schools. Whatever your skills, interests, or availability we've got an opportunity for you to impact the students and staff of Brazosport Independent School District. Below are steps to get you started.

Steps to becoming a Brazosport ISD Volunteer:

Step 1: 

Click on the 4BISDVolunteers graphic to begin the registration process.
  • If you are a new volunteer, click ‘New Volunteer’ and complete the registration form.
  • If you are a returning volunteer, you will need to complete this process annually, so click ‘Returning Volunteer’ to log in and complete the registration.

Note that a background check is required of all potential volunteers** Once the background check is complete (may take up to 24 hours) continue to Step 2.

You can check the status of your volunteer application by logging back into the volunteer portal as a Returning Volunteer (option #1). The system will show you the status of your application. You also have the option to update or remove your application.

Step 2:

Contact or visit the campus of your choice to inquire about volunteer opportunities. If you do not have a specific campus in mind, feel free to contact the Brazosport ISD Education Foundation, Human Resources, or Communications at 979-730-7000 for volunteering options.

**In order to ensure the safety of our students, local board policy dictates that BISD shall perform a criminal history record check on all employees as well as substitutes and volunteers. [See Texas Education Code 22.083(a)(b), Board policy DC (Legal), and GKG (Legal)].

Additionally, Brazosport ISD reserves the right to terminate volunteer status in the event that a volunteer violates the Educator’s Code of Ethics, Board Policy DH (Exhibit)

In addition, Education Code 22.053 states, “A volunteer who is serving as a direct service volunteer in the district is immune from civil liability, to the same extent as professional employee of a school district under Section 22.051.”

The information obtained by the district concerning criminal background history remains confidential and is kept in a separate file in the Human Resources Office.
